JeffreyHolt.com: The Blame Game

Array-ne Tash was in town with Ayaz, the twins Noreen & Nosheen, and their brother Navid. I think I gave them a good worldly education in about an hour while they sat on my bed and pointed to all the posters and books I have collected through my 3 years at school. I answered questions on the history of Bebop, Rajasthani puppets, Swedish art, Picasso’s sexualization of the female form, Coco Chanel, Indian movies, Architectual history of the late 18th century, Africa, and Balinese art.

By selecting an objects Use function, you can do the default which is to sit on it, or you can perform a sequence of motions pre-scripted into the object. Or at a dance club you can get up on a platform and dance. Everything from Pole Dancing to out and out lovemaking with several action globes attached to a bed are the norm and usually get the most attention and fetch the most cash. Can’t imagine my surprise in going to a club, sitting down with my friend and watching a woman climb on the pole and start dancing and gyrating to the streaming music that was pumping through the place. What if I want to buy clothes or buy myself a stake of land and build a dream home or a place for my friends to hang out at.

New research reported in the January issue of CHEST, the peer-reviewed journal of the American College of Chest Physicians (ACCP), shows that Florida red tide toxins (known as brevetoxins) can impact respiratory function and increase respiratory symptoms in patients with asthma. Our study shows that Florida red tide toxins may have a greater impact on patients with asthma, who experienced respiratory problems and decreased lung function after just one hour of beach exposure to the toxins. Furthermore, participants who reported using asthma medication within 12 hours prior to the study had similar post-exposure differences in spirometry and respiratory symptoms compared with those who did not use medication - even though a sheep model asthma study indicated that these medications have been shown to block the effects of the Florida red tide toxins. People with asthma, whether residents or tourists, need to be aware of the Florida red tides and their potential to exacerbate asthma, as well as their own personal reaction to Florida red tides. Florida residents and tourists can stay informed of Florida red tide conditions by checking with local environmental groups, including the Florida Department of Health and the Florida Marine Research Institute. It is important for patients with asthma or other chronic respiratory illness to understand their personal limitations regarding red tide toxins and take steps to reduce exposure during times when red tide levels are at their highest.

Dealing with Misuse of Trade Marks Indicative of Irish Origin Part I - Background InformationDescription:Any person who wishes to obtain registration of a trade mark containing a State emblem (harp, shamrock) or to use a State emblem in connection with any business must first obtain consent from the Minister. Eligibility: Any person or company applying to the Controller of Patents, Designs and Trade Marks, Patents Office, Government Buildings, Hebron Road, Kilkenny for a trade mark incorporating a State emblem - or to the relevant authorities of any country that is a contracting party to the Paris Convention - is eligible to seek the Minister’s consent in this regard. Misuse of Trade Mark: Where it comes to the Minister’s attention that a trade mark in another country would falsely give the impression that the goods on which the trade mark is used were of Irish origin, the Department may take appropriate legal steps to prevent any further use of that trade mark.

I remember that right after our wedding, I felt so silly saying the word husband , like people would think I was only imagining. I cook every single day now - and not just hamburger helper or sidekicks ( I am proud to announce that we haven’t had either of those items even once since our arrival in Vernon) but real foods like lasagna’s and roasts (tonight I made a broccoli and cheese quiche), I drive everywhere every day - I even drove on highway 97 to Kelowna by myself, something I was terrified to do!!! Andy and I are also working hard to try and be more healthy and get outside more - I hate that feeling of wasting hours in front of the television, esp. The water in Kal Lake is known for its beautiful colors and was listed as the most photographed lake in the Okanagan ( or so I was told) .

After Peter hears something that he does not like to hear, he rebukes Jesus. Why would Peter be bold enough to rebuke what Jesus had told them? Did he know what Jesus was saying? Well, we don’t know but I can almost bet that Peter understood perfectly what Jesus was saying and he did not like what he had heard. The rebuke to Jesus was not a rebuke of hatred but one of love.Do you remember when you used to get scolded by your parents? He ends up scolding Jesus because he does not want Jesus to be harmed. Jesus is important to him and he loves Jesus very much. Just like a parent does not want his or her child to be in any harm, Peter does not want Jesus to be in any harm as well. Now, as children, I doubt many of us did what Jesus did and rebuked Peter back. But here, we see that Jesus turned the situation around. We see that Jesus becomes more of the parental or authoritative figure than Peter. Jesus knew what he was doing and he saw that Peter understood. But what he also saw was that Peter did not comprehend what Jesus was teaching. He saw that Peter understood but Peter did not see the big picture. Jesus saw that something was in the way of Peter’s vision that kept him from seeing the divine path that Jesus was going to go down. Peter is looking with worldly eyes instead of divine eyes. Peter is looking with the eyes of his mind instead of the eyes of his heart. It seems as if Jesus refers a lot to the differences between seeing through divine eyes and seeing through human eyes. But, here we see again the frustration Jesus has when we look at things through our human eyes. Peter is upset, as are the rest of the disciples, that Jesus is going to die. Jesus sees beyond that and he is trying to teach his followers the big picture. That’s what Jesus was trying to teach Peter and the disciples who were fixed too much on the limited rewards the human world has to offer.Jesus then teaches the disciples and the crowd to the job that are to do as Christians and as followers. But, we learn through lessons like the one we have today that there is a big picture and that the life we live now is very small compared to the life we will live in heaven. If they had been looking through their heart instead of through their human eyes, they would have understood.By the time of Bonhoeffer’s death he had already done quite a bit of writing. Cheap grace is grace without discipleship, grace without the cross, grace without Jesus Christ. As Christians, there is a cost we have to pay. That is the point! When we pick up our crosses, are we seeing that our cross is heavy or light? Jesus simply states the facts that should be most plain. If that does not do it, watch the local news.
What Jesus is saying is that anyone who is foolish enough to take one’s chances with a world that is so obviously fouled up and cannot learn from its own history deserves to fall with it. Look for the ability to see beyond the distance to the life we were given when Christ died on the cross.

In my case I just threw the Rebel, the kit 18–55 lens, a UV filter, battery and charger into a bag and off I went. Not thinking to bring the 75–200 lens or D30 body I lent to a friend a couple of months back (for his Costa Rica trip, coincidentally), and not having enough time to get a circular polarizing lens (but thanks for trying, Leeann).Next go around, I’ll bringing both bodies - the D30 just to back up the XT and probably to let others shoot with - and the 75–200 unless I invest in in the Tamron 18-200 lens (which I think nets out to around 28–300). Extra lens caps or a tether (lost the cap yesterday), maybe an extra XT battery.

-ne Federal Child Support Enforcement Reimbursement Matching RateThe federal government currently reimburses each state 66% of the funding required for the state to operate its CSE program. 98-378 reduced the federal match to 68% in FY1988 and FY1989, and to 66% in FY1990 and years thereafter. These costs include moneys for locate services, paternity establishment, establishment and modification of child support orders, and enforcement services. In 1975, when the IV-D [CSE] program began, it was necessary to have a very high matching rate in order to persuade the states to participate. The federal government also pays 90% of state costs of developing and improving CSE automated management information systems, including expenditures on the hardware (i.e., computers) and 80-90% of costs attributable to laboratory costs incurred in determining paternity. It was believed that over time, the increased stake by the states in this program would have the effect of encouraging closer scrutiny of expenditures of scarce dollars. The reverse was the result.

For example:CALCULATING YOURHOURLY RATETarget annual salary:00,00048 work weeks per year(4 weeks of vacation)25 billable hours/week(5 billable hours per 8-hour workday)48 weeks x 25 hours =1200 billable hours peryear00,000 ÷ 1200 =3/hour rateThe key thing to remember is that you are not going to work every week of the year (especially living in beautiful Switzerland). Chores you must do, such as billing, routine paperwork, etc. You’ll be working very efficiently if you can bill for 60-75 percent of your time.Once you have your target hourly billing rate, you simply estimate the cost of projects for clients by how many hours you think it will take you to complete them. Don’t forget to pad each project with an extra 2-3 hours to account for unexpected changes, etc. Here’s another reason I recommend picking a target annual income and using this formula to set your hourly rate.

A Simple Jew asks:While I was reviewing books on the subject of Purim, I ran across this teaching from Likutey Moharan II, 74:Purim is a preparation for Pesach. Through the mitzvah of Purim we are protected from chometz on Pesach. In my slow-paced learning of Likutey Moharan, I have not yet reached this lesson. I can’t say that I fully comprehend what Rebbe Nachman of Breslov is trying to teach us. I know that joy is the main aspect of Purim and that chometz symbolizes the character trait of arrogance. I don’t yet understand how the joy we experience on Purim helps protect us from arrogance.Rabbi Dovid Sears answers:Like most of Rebbe Nachman’s teachings, this lesson is full of mysteries. This reflects Reb Noson’s words in his Introduction to Likkutei Moharan, citing the Gemara (Chagiga 13a) that in mystical matters, one must simultaneously reveal and conceal. This is particularly true of Rebbe Nachman’s teaching style. So whatever we say must be understood as speculation only.1.) On a basic level, the Rebbe is darshaning on the coincidence that in the Jewish calendar, Purim is followed by parshas Parah and then by Pesach, and he finds profound meaning in these connections. Even though the miracle of Purim took place more than one thousand years after yetziyas Mitzrayim, the paradigm it represents paves the way for Pesach.Rebbe Nachman states: Through Purim, we are protected from chometz on Pesach. Purim represents hidden miracles, be-derekh ha-teva’; Pesach represents open miracles, le-ma’alah me-derekh ha-teva’. Purim shows us that what appears to be natural is truly supernatural. It elevates us above nature, above ego, and destroys Amalek, which represents p’gam ha-bris (symbolized by the fact that the Amalekites sexually mutilated their victims) and disbelief (the word Amalek = gematria sofek, or doubt). Thus, Purim protects us from chometz, which variously represents ego, ta’avah / lust, and the illusion of nature as autonomous — the antithesis of Pesach.2.) Rabbi Borukh Ephraim of Homel, a talmid of the Tcheriner Rov and author of Be’ibey ha-Nachal on Likkutei Moharan, looks at this teaching from another angle.First let’s recap the original lesson in Likkutei Moharan:After Purim, we read parshas Parah, which is a preparation for Pesach. This is customary because when the Beis ha-Mikdosh still stood, we were required to eat the Korban Pesach in a state of taharah, purity from tumas mes (ritual defilement that comes from contact with the dead). This is attained through the ashes of the Parah Adumah, the Red Heifer. Today, lacking the Beis ha-Mikdosh and the ashes of the Parah Adumah, we cannot do so. However, in a spiritual sense we reenact this process every year beginning on Purim, when we commemorate the pur (pey-vav-reish), the lot that was cast concerning the fate of the Jews, after which Purim is named. Then a little later we read parshas Parah. Thus, the pur of Purim turns into the aspect of Parah (pey-reish, the root letters of pur, plus the letter heh), the Red Heifer. (Rebbe Nachman takes this connection of pur and parah from a teaching of the ARI zal in Pri Eitz Chaim, Sha’ar Purim 6, which is too complex for us to discuss here.)The Rebbe finds an allusion to this idea in Shir ha-Shirim: Sifsosav shoshanim notfos mor oveir . . . His lips are roses overflowing with myrrh.” “His lips” refer to Pesach, which the ARI interprets as “peh-sach,” a mouth that speaks. (In other words, on Pesach we can now speak HaShem’s praises openly, as free men.) “Shoshanah” has the same gematria as “Esther”; thus it hints to the Purim story. And “mor” hints to Mordechai, whom the Gemara homiletically connects with the biblical phrase “mor dror, flowing myrrh (Chullin 139b). The word d’ror, which literally means free, also alludes to Pesach, the Festival of Freedom. This Purim-Pesach connection is further borne out by the verse: Shivas yamim tokhal matzos ka’asher tzivisikha le-mo’ed chodesh ha-aviv ki vo yatzasa mi-mitzrayim ve-lo yeira’u fana’I reikam . . . Seven days you shall eat matzos as I have commanded you at the season of the month of Aviv [springtime, the biblical name for Nisan], for then you came out of Egypt

so what about the CAFC?The IPKat is delighted to read a feature published in today’s subscription-only email release of the World Trademark Law Report by Eugene Pak (DLA Piper Rudnick Gray Cary US LLP, San Francisco) on the prospects for changing the practice of the USPTO’s Trademark Trial and Appeal Board (TTAB) of deeming most of its decisions non-citable.With some understatement, Pak mentions that trade mark practitioners have expressed frustration at the relative lack of opposition and ex parte decisions made citable by the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board. Merpel adds, you can’t justify non-citability on the grounds that there are too many cases or that they’re inaccessible, since we’ve all entered the age of computerisation.Sample non-citable decision hereFind the Fish competitionTomorrow mid-day is also the closing date for entries to the IPKat’s Find the Fish competition (details here), the prize for which is free entry to CLT’s popular and informative 8th Annual Information Technology Law Conference (programme details here).

HERE IS AN ARTICLE I WROTE THAT WAS PUBLISHED IN THE MOUNTAIN ASTROLOGER IN EARLY 2005. IN IT I USED THE US SIBLY CHART (SAG RISING), THOUGH IN A BLOG A FEW WEEKS AGO I PROMOTED THE US GEMINI RISING CHART - WHICH IS AT 8 DEGREES, AND IMMEDIATELY MAKES BETTER SENSE OF THE FIRST PARAGRAPH!The American MarsBy Dharmaruci In 1891, Neptune conjoined Pluto at 8° Gemini, marking the beginning of a new 500-year era whose nature may become clearer to us in another century or so. This conjunction was just four degrees from the U.S. (Sibly) Descendant at 12° Gemini — perhaps indicating the pervasive influence the United States would have on other countries (Descendant) in this new era. Astrologically, what has come to be called the American Century began in the 1890s as first Neptune and then Pluto crossed the U.S. Descendant. A few years after this, Neptune (in 1898) and then Pluto (in 1904) passed over the U.S. 7th-house Mars at 21°23^ Gemini, heralding the arrival of the U.S. as a world military power. Until that time, America had had a tradition of isolationism going back to George Washington’s warning, in his Farewell Address, against getting embroiled in foreign quarrels. Despite the persistence of this attitude well into the 20th century (which played a major part in the timing of America’s entry into World War II), the Neptune and Pluto transits nevertheless suggest a fundamental change in the U.S. attitude toward foreign military involvement from the start of the 20th century. This change seems to have happened bang on cue: Neptune conjoined the U.S. Mars in 1898, the same year as the Spanish-American War, which resulted in the U.S. gaining its first overseas colonies (Puerto Rico, Guam, and the Philippines) — just before Pluto conjoined the U.S. Mars in 1904. The U.S. had acquired imperial ambitions, and during the next 25 years, it intervened in Latin America, both militarily and commercially. Therefore, since the time of its transformation by the Neptune and Pluto transits, the American Mars can be seen as a tool of American imperial ambitions. These transits, as conjunctions, represent the beginning of a whole new cycle that still has quite a while to run.The Faces of Mars The U.S. Mars is in Gemini. This sign can be understood in terms of light twin and dark twin, and an aware individual will make some sort of attempt to bring the two together. The U.S., however, is notable for dividing the world into good and evil, with the U.S. naturally on the side of good — and evil being somewhere else, out there. Mars is also in the 7th house, a good place for projecting evil onto the Other. (The U.S. Descendant in Gemini also describes this phenomenon; the Descendant and 7th-house Mars reflect many of the same American characteristics, so they should be considered together.) Most countries tend to demonise their opponents in time of war, but the U.S. seems to have a psychological need for a demonic opponent on an ongoing basis. For many years, Communism provided this outlet. After the collapse of the USSR, there was no obvious opponent, and the U.S. appeared to turn on itself for a while, with the rise of paramilitary organisations within the country that were opposed to an alleged government conspiracy to control the population. This movement resulted in violent events such as the Oklahoma City bombing. The impeachment of Bill Clinton in 1998 over a relatively minor matter — after a witch hunt by the neoconservatives (who are now in power, of course) — could also be seen as the country turning on itself, losing faith in itself and finding imaginary demons within its boundaries. After September 11, 2001, the U.S. at last identified a new demonic opponent in the Islamic jihadists, and it is now fighting them through its War on Terror. And the paramilitary organisations within the U.S. have all but disappeared from view. That said, when the US has identified a worthwhile demon outside the country, it has also tended to hunt for it within: hence the Macarthy anti-communist witch hunts in the early 1950s, around the same time as the Korean War; and the current search for terrorist cells within the US as part of the ‘War on Terror’. Both have had a fantastical, paranoid quality to them, with little in the way of concrete, verifiable results. And both have taken place under Pluto-Mars transits (see later). The U.S. Mars is also square to natal 9th-house Neptune at 22°25^ Virgo, which was also activated by the 1898–1904 transits. Neptune, we could say, spiritualises and intensifies the initial division of the world into good and evil; thus, the U.S. considers itself to be on a God-given mission to save the world from the evil out there. And there is frequently an ostensible redemptive aspect to America’s reasons for engaging in war: WWII was fought to save Europe from Hitler (and Stalin); the Korean and Vietnam wars were to save those countries (and the Free World) from Communism; and the Gulf War, to save Kuwait from Saddam Hussein. I think that, to some extent Neptune really was redemptive in those cases. But clearly, other motives come into play that are often obvious to outsiders but apparently not to most Americans (tricky Gemini and even trickier Neptune). A classic recent example: People were led to believe, as grounds for the war on Iraq, that there was a connection between Saddam Hussein and 9/11, even though many people knew that this was not true. That was just one instance within the layers of deception leading up to the Iraq War — what Senator Edward Kennedy called a “fraud dreamt up in Texas.” The United Kingdom, where I live, has a different character from that of the U.S.; it has neither the ongoing need for a demonic opponent nor the urge to be the world’s Redeemer. But Prime Minister Tony Blair, like the U.S., has Mars in Gemini (in his case, on the Ascendant); and since becoming PM in 1997, he has been in the throes of a series of major Neptune transits – to his Capricorn MC, his Aquarius Moon and currently to his Taurus Sun. So, much to the bemusement — and anger — of many Britons, Tony Blair has been able to throw himself behind the war efforts of an American government that ostensibly comes from the opposite end of the political spectrum. Many Britons refer to the conflict in Iraq as Blair

Today is the 5 year anniversary of when we had a miscarriage back in 2002.Sarah (age 3 at the time) named the baby Kasha and was quite a comfort to me the day I had to break the news.It was a tough time for us, but an eye opening experience as we felt the love of those in the body of Christ, but also because we learned just how many others had endured the same trying experience.I’ve heard that at least 1 in every 3 pregnancies end in miscarriage, which means there’s a lot of sadness out there.

This is just some desperate attempt to finally remove from his head, once and for all, the endless loop of ma-ma-ma-ma-ma-ma-my-my-my-eye-eye-WHOO.You may be thinking brain surgery isn’t something to joke about, and yes, most good girls don’t - but I do.However, if it really did work, I’d like to have two tumors of my own removed: Joe Jackson and Randy Newman. There’s only one thing to say to Joe.

Array the vacuum in front of the intake?spcman no, back pressure is the difference in pressure from front to rear of the fan or pump.Orgone For series fans to produce more airflow the last fan would have to be driving the previous three.spcman so if your computer cannot exhaust air as fast as it is pushed in, then having parallel fans might provide diminishing returns.Swish spcman, hehehe yup that would work :)Orgone If the airflow through the previous fans is increased, then their blades must be driven by the higher airflow.

Array I felt very good going out with the leaders, Faulkner and Tom Lam, for the first mile. That first mile, I couldn’t understand why Faulkner was going so slow since he was running the lead-off 15k leg of the relay. I figured he would be running 5:30 or faster pace, and I thought we were going about 6:00-6:10 pace. I just wanted to run a good fun race and feel good at the end. And, right before the start I told Trani I was going out with the leaders to get another Tulsa Runner singlet in the photo. There was a kid that would run up to me, past me a little, then would fade behind me, over and over, and about 5 or 6 runners in a pack right behind me. I got right on Pete’s hip and ran all the way to the 6 mile mark with he and another two guys. At the turnaround, Pete went straight as he was running the marathon, one of the other guys I had been running with turned for the Half. The run back was straight in to the wind, and the guy that I had been with, but who made up probably 20 yards on me when I tied my shoelace, started making serious ground on me going back up Riverside. We turned onto Main, and ran past Hal’s building and probably another 1/8 of a mile, when Dom put in a surge kick.

Array The day before was 67 miles to Buggs Island, VA, the day before that was 63 to Burkeville, VA.With the new handlebar grip, I have noticed my average speed increase from about 11.9 to up to 12.2–and that is average for the whole trip, so a significant increase. So far in my trip I have biked 360 miles, perhaps 3.6% of the distance to my destination!Today is my rest day for the week–I have biked 6 days so far, so the seventh is a rest day.

Seaborn inform her that the pictured player was none other than the legendary Cyclone Taylor, and unfortunately not her cousin Jim.I offered to help out in any way I could in regards to hockey research, noting that internet databases are relatively new and not that deep. Hey, who wouldn’t!She also seems highly intent on piecing together a somewhat fragmented family tree over the past one hundred years. She writes:I have no definitive proof that my cousin Jim Seaborn and the Jim Seaborn on the Stanley Cup are the same man. My daddy said that the Jim Seaborn on the Stanley Cup is Cousin Jim Unfortunately I know very little about Cousin Jim and his branch of the family, but will share the relevant bits identified to date. 45 years of age when Jim was 23 in 1915- RC) There were pro hockey teams operating in Portland at the time so Jim could well have been playing for one of them. As the Stanley Cup has 12 names engraved including Jim, this photo has only 8 players abd was likely taken at the start of their innaugural season before others players were added, purchased, or traded for to fill the lineup.Through a multitute of old time semi pro hockey league databases I was able to conclude that Jim was a defenseman and played for five teams in the CHL from 1925 to 1932. That missing decade surely holds clues as to where Jim Seaborn may have settled and raised family. Most interseting note of my search so far was finding a Vancouver Province article dated this August 24, 2006. As she backtracks through her ancestry, clues as to Jim Seaborn’s path through life, will surely reveal themselves.I will keep posting on this subject for as long as the search goes on.I am wishing that all bloggers who come in contact with this post tag along with the search and comment findings or e-mail me at realitycheck-time@hotmail.com.

In 1942 Spahn went 0-0 4 games, 2 starts 15 innings pitched 25 hits, 0 HR 11 BB 7 SO with an ERA of 5.47. He batted .125.Rookie YearIn1946, at the age of 25, Spahn returned to the Boston Braves and went 8-5, appearing in 24 games, 8 complete games, pitching a total of 125 innings, giving up 107 hits 6 HR, 36 BB 67 SO with an ERA of 2.94, excellent numbers. He went 7-17 appearing in 34 games with one complete game, 195 innings pitched, 201 hits, 12 HR, 63 BB 84 SO and a 4.56 ERA, not Hall of Fame numbers. He batted only .183.Sophomore YearIn1947 at the age of 26, Spahn went 21-10 for the Boston Braves, appearing in 40 games with 22 complete games, 7 shutouts, 245 hits 15 HR 84 BB 123 SO. He batted .163.In 1989, at the age of 23, Glavine went 14-8 for the Braves, appearing in 29 games, with 6 complete games and 4 shutouts. Tom fell six wins short in his.Junior YearIn 1948, at the age of 27, Spahn went 15-12 appearing in 36 games for the Braves, with 16 complete games, and 3 shutouts, in 237 innings pitched. Ironically, Lemon got two of Cleveland’s four wins, the other two were turned in by Gene Bearden and Steve Gromek, not exactly household names. In 1990, at the age of 24, Glavine went 10-12 in 33 appearances for the Braves, (one complete game, no shutouts) with 214 innings pitched. In fact, Glavine gave up one less homer, and 5 less hits.Fourth YearIn 1949, aged 28, Spahn went 21-14 (the most wins on the year for a National Leaguer), appearing in 38 games, with 25 complete games (he led the league in this category too), and 4 shutouts. He was already one of the most dominant names in baseball. In 1991, at the age of 25 Glavine went 20 and 11, (he led the league with 20 wins) appearing in 34 games, leading the league with 9 complete games, and also had 1 shutout. In this critical fourth year, both led the league as a twenty game winner, and both led the league in complete games as well. He appeared in 33 games, with 7 complete games and a league leading 5 shutouts. In the 1992 World Series, he went 1 and 1 giving up 3 earned runs (again similar to Spahn’s first Series), posting a 1.59 ERA thorugh 17 innings, ie 2 complete games. He gave up 10 hits 4 walks and got 8 strikeouts in that series against the victorious Blue Jays, who won 4 games to 2.Sixth YearIn1951, at the age of 30, Spahn went 22 and14 for the Braves, appearing in 39 games, leading the league with both 26 complete games and 7 shutouts. He pitched a remarkable 310 innings, giving up 278 hits 20 HR, 109 BB and chalking up a league leading 164 SO while hosting a 2.98 ERA His batting average fell to .190In 1993, at the age of 27, Glavine went 22 and 6, appearing in 36 games with 4 complete games, and two shutouts. In the 1993 NLCS, Glavine went 1-0 with a 2.57 ERA with 7 walks and 11 strikeouts, but the Braves lost to the Phillies, 4 games to 2 and were eliminated.Seventh YearSpahn, at the age of 31 and pitching in his seventh full year for the Braves in1952, coming off one of his greatest years, went only 14-19 in 40 games, a disappointing year, win-wise. Glavine had a great series, going 2-0, with a 1.29ERA, giving up 2 earned runs in 14 innings, with 11 strikeouts to 6 walks.Ninth YearWarren Spahn, at the age of 33, in 1954, went 21 and 12, appearing in 39 games with a remarkable 23 complete games, with one shutout. Spahn got to pitch again in the World Series as the Braves defeated the Yankees in 1957 (1 and 1, 4.70 ERA) and lost to the Yankees in 1958 (2 and 1, 2.20 ERA) Both pitchers are known for winning in a losing effort against the Yankees in World Series play.
